Matt Matera - New York City, NY
I am a rock climbing instructor and personal trainer in New York. I have been teaching climbing for over 10 years, and traveled all over the world to climb and guide clients outside. Climbing is an adrenaline producing exercise. It involves excitement and fear it requires strength and flexibility. Training is very important for climbing -- you practice inside to perfect your experience outside. For my clients who strive to climb outside with a weight vest. The vest simulates climbing outside when you carry a substantial amount of gear on your body. While climbers also lift weights in the gym, the best way to be a better climber is to climb hard and often. The weight vest is a unique system that would allow a climber to target climbing muscles while climbing with excess weight on their body.
Ironwear's Flex-Metal is the only product I've found that climbers can use to train. It is well constructed and snug so it does not interfere with their climbing or gear. I have tried other weight vests that are either bulky or poorly constructed. The vest feels close to the body and flows with the movement. I not only recommend it to clients, I use it myself for training.
